Lavender essential oil is extracted from the flowers of the Lavandula angustifolia plant using steam distillation. Lavender
flowers are known for their soothing scent. Lavender is used since ancient times by the Romans, Persians, Greeks and
Egyptians as an ingredient for bathroom aromatherapy, as well as in the production of perfumes.
The oil is highly concentrated and is not to be applied undiluted to the skin. Like any essential oil it has to be diluted with some of the well-known to us base oils (such as, among other, almond, cocoa and olive oils). Two or three drops of the oil are diluted in 50 ml base oil.
5 ml glass bottle with an integrated dropper.
Subsequently, lavender oil becomes widely used in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries – perfumes,
conditioners, creams and others. It is also used for aromatherapy. When added to an evaporator or pulverizer, lavender
oil is used to treat cough and respiratory infectious diseases. It exhibits strong antiseptic and anti-inflammatory
properties. The oil has a yellowish green colour and when properly stored has a strong and intense scent, slightly
different from that of the flowers. Lavender oil is used in various cosmetic products, gels, lotions, soaps, baby products
and candles. It is also used in the preparation of tea, lemonade, syrups and other flavoured drinks.
